Don’t do the below steps if you already on any internet plan, because do it you may loose the existing internet plan.
Do the steps below at least 4 to 5 hours early (around 7am-10am) before happy hours starts.
Steps (For already activated 3G users)
1. Dial *444# and select appropriate option from that to activate Happy Hours.
2. You will receive a confirmation telling that your happy hours will be activated shortly.
3. Change mobile network settings to “dual mode” or “gsm mode only” (recommended “gsm mode only”) in the mobile network, if you still use “UMTS mode only” in the mobile network settings then after some time (around 30minutes) you won’t be able to make any calls (both incoming and outgoing) or to send/receive any messages but the USSD codes will be working fine.
4. After changing to “gsm mode only” then try to register (after 40-45minutes) to the “UMTS mode only” (Idea 3G in Kerala) from the mobile network settings you won’t get registered to the 3G network.
5. Now send “ACT 3G” to 144 without quotes.
6. You will receive a confirmation message.
7. Wait for around 1hour for 3G activation; now change mobile network settings to “dual mode” or “UMTS mode only” in the mobile network settings during happy hours from 2pm-4pm.
8. To check the data balance dial *111*6*2# .
Steps (For 2G users)
1. Dial *444# and select appropriate option from that to activate Happy Hours.
2. You will receive a confirmation telling that your happy hours will be activated shortly.
3. After 40-45 minutes send “ACT 3G” to 144 without quotes.
4 . You will receive a confirmation message.
5. Wait for around 1hour for 3G activation; change mobile network settings to “dual mode” or “UMTS mode only” in the mobile network settings during happy hours from 2pm-4pm.
6. To check the data balance dial *111*6*2# .
The above steps were tried in Kerala and seemed to be working fine.
